people..get a grip….

When I first heard that parents were upset that the President of the United States was going to address their children I thought it was a joke.  Seriously.  What could these people possibly be thinking?

Brainwashing by talking about the importance of washing your hands? Mind control by suggesting the power of education? Subversive recruitment of potential Republicans who say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning?

Well, stop sniffing your own socks for crying out loud.  Did you listen to the wildy provactive speech Obama gave?  The one where he talked about how education is one thing that can never be taken away from you and how we all have a right to be educated and find our way through life so we can be productive citizens?

It’s obvious that our children are much smarter than we are. Even if they have sharp young opinions most of them have been taught to listen and to honor another person’s point of view.

Did the parents think our President is a nutcase who will tell them to run through town with underwear on their heads? For the love of whatevr you believe in Obama is a loving father and husband, a man who worked hard to get where he is, and who appears to have the best interests of every child at heart.

The nerve of him telling young children they can grow up to be successful!

All the parents who shouted about this one need to stay after class. Today we are having a lovely lesson based on a speech from a former President who said, “…the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”  Wait until they see their assigned homework.

    Kris,

You go, girl! It is upsetting to me that people are so disrespectful to the President of the United States. It’s kind of ironic that people want to exercise a choice to opt out of his speech to their children, but do they think twice about the political views of the teachers or administrators? The Disney Channel? Song lyrics? Or Sponge-Bob Squarepants? They should be so conscious about all of their choices.

Thanks for the chance to agree and rant, lol.

I sincerely hoped and believed that, with the election of this nation’s first black president, perhaps we had taken a giant leap toward truly tearing down the walls that divide and becoming one people, one nation…but it seems that could not be farther from the truth. It appears this country is more divided than ever…this race against that race…this political persuasion against that one…the haves against the have nots. Will we not stop until all we know is bickering and hatred? It is hard to be positive and forward thinking when all that surrounds us is negative and meant only to tear us apart. So where does this nation start to “get a grip?”

Oh My God I couln’t believe it either for heaven’s sake what are people thinking no I take that back they’re not thinking they are reacting. What an amazing opportunity to have the President of these United States speak to our students all over the country, telling them to believe that they can be anything they choose to be; to stay in school that education can and will take you to amazing heights. Heaven forbid if we actually gave a hoot and holler about our children and their educations but no we have to show how ignornant and simplistic we can be by acting all high and mighty and claim brainwashing and spout equally idiotic reasons while thumping our puffed up chests.
We are so far behind in our education of our children. We keep this up we will no longer be #1 in the world I feel we’re we’re on the fast track to becoming a 3rd world country. We have starving children in our country the only meals they get are in school, homeless families, middle class has become the new poor and medical care please don’t get me started on that. How can we hold our heads up and claim to be proud Americans when all that is going on in our own backyards?
Whether you voted for him or not he is our President and we should all show our respect for him as a man who has worked hard to get where he is, husband and loving father as well as the leader of the USA.
Give him a chance the man may actually lead our country back to greatness.
Sorry for going off but thanks Kris Love you

You said it, Kris! The kids are miles ahead of their parents (from the responses I heard yesterday) than their parents! Talk about hateful ignorance. It seems that the highly paid “talking heads” planted the seed & the parents ran with it. Now, they’re stuck looking foolish in front of their children. Serves them right.

I am not an American but even I thought that these parents that did not your President to speak to the children, should get a grip. They should be thankful that you have a President who took the time to talk to children and not a politician that is buried under books and papers and don’t come out to talk to adults let alone children. Think of what these youngsters will recall about mostly likely the most exciting thing to happen to them in school. I wonder if it will be on a team, or getting good grades, no matter how important they are, hopefully they will remember when this man sat in their class and talk to them, not about them but to them. Thanks Kris
