wear a jacket…
So tomorrow morning we are heading back to Wisconsin to so we can start celebrating my lovely mother’s 80th birthday. My sister and I have been planning the big shin-dig for month’s now and the rest of the week we’ll be doing things like arranging flowers, and making little table do-dads, and of course, sampling the wine you know – just to make sure.
My two brothers are going to be there lending a helping hand too, but as it is in most cases – the girls are in charge – thank God. My only heartache is that my own two children won’t be there as they are spending time with their ailing father. They did however send a card and we will see them two days after the party.
Everyone keeps telling us to “bring a jacket”. For crying out loud! I have worn pants once in the past 1.5 years and I refuse to find a jacket. I will wear my dad’s or freeze my ass off – which sounds like a great way to diet anyway.
Sunday at 1 p.m. EST I want everyone to hoist one for mom. She’s lovely, kind, generous, funny, patient and absolutely classy. What I know about motherhood I learned from her and she has been, and remains, a fabulous role model for me. I am also proud to say she is my friend.
Even if she still tells me to cut my hair, stop swearing, and about three thousand other things.
Oh yes – she also tells me to wear a jacket.
Mom, here we come!!!

I hope Momma Radish had a wonderful rockin’ 80th birthday with loads of fun and love and I’m excited for you to get back and share with us stories and pics. She and my mom shared the same b-day but I lost her 7 yrs. ago so thank you much for letting us all share in your mom’s special day.

The story of you, your siblings and your Mom brought several good memories for me. I am the oldest of 7 – 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Much fun is always had by all when we are together which is often. I’m writing because my dear Mother passed away 3 years ago but was truly a role model for us all. My Dad owned his won business and was at work a lot. My Mom never said “Wait til your Father gets home”. She handled everything right away. She would take all 7 of us grocery shopping with two carts and every one of us behaved beautifully. How come I couldn’t do that with 2! Loved the story!
