tolerence news flash…

We are all different.

And that’s a good thing.

Enough with the hate rhetoric already.  Enough with people shouting and screaming at each other simply because – we are all different.  Enough with the absurd allegations and gunfire – literally and verbally.

I think most of us can agree that extremism on any level is frightening and usually a sign that somethings not quite right upstairs. Call me a dreamer but I can’t help but think that if we all cared about each other, no matter what the other person thinks or believes, a bit more the world just might be lighter and sweeter. Let me be totally honest here.  Here’s my example -  I think Sarah Palin needs to stay home, spearfish, drink beer and take an English class.  But some people think she’s the Great Hope of America.  That frightens me, but it’s okay for other people to like her. Just don’t jam her down my throat-but hey – good for you ya!

See how easy that is?

We all need to take a kindness chill pill.  Watch out for the guy next door.  If you see him sitting on the roof and talking to invisible people – give his sister or wife or mom a call.  Take those damn ear plugs out of your head for ten minutes and listen to the world around you.  Someone might need a little help.  It might even be you. Be open.  Be gentle. Be patient. And if this is all too hard for you – maybe go on a retreat someplace quiet and think about what what’s REALLY important.  I can assure you it isn’t yelling, pointing fingers, and thinking everyone but you is wrong.

Lighten up people.  Smile.  Laugh. go look up the word compassion in the dictionary – the dictionary by the way isn’t just in your computer it’s a grand, thick book filled with words people in Alaska have never heard.

You are not going to believe how easy it is to swallow a kindness chill pill.

Love this…and totally agree! Compassion and tolerance are the answers. A little laughter, like I enjoyed here this morning, doesn’t hurt either!

Thank you for this! I’ve been thing similar lately.

I used to like Sarah Palin (not for president) – until her daughter, Piper, growled at a momma bear with her two cups teaching them how to fish. Excuse me, you’re in their “house”, have some respect.

People really do need to lighten up. What ever happened to “Live and Let Live”???

Funny that you bring up the dictionary. My best friend and I were just discussing how you can look up words on the internet, but with the meanings of words changing, I still like using my paper dictionaries to get the original meaning of the word. Not the made up meaning that is going around.

tryin’ hard to remember to take one daily — with vitamins and a tall glass of water
but still so many unopened bottles of chill pills on the shelves out there in americaland, oh dear

wish you could hear the melody that accompanies these lyrics
a fav of ours from from pat & sandy of “emma’s revolution”:

We are living ‘neath the great big dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in this stream together
Some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on
Cherishing the beings that we live beside
    Loving spirits will live forever
We’re all swimming to the other side

Beautiful, timely, and oh, so true. I find it so hard sometimes to keep a positive attitude when I hear so much ignorant hatred and ranting swirling around me. At times it feels as if “love” and “compassion” and “unity” get lost in a maestrom of mindless anger and division-ism, and despair wraps a heavy blanket around my shoulders.

And then a voice of reason and sanity will speak up of peace and determination and not giving in to the rabble – thank you, Kris – and speaks instead of a quieter, stronger, more stable vision of a coming together that is actually, I believe, in the process of happening underneath all the shouting.

I forget, sometimes, that in nature that which is facing its ultimate end often makes the loudest most ear-piercing noise … and maybe that’s why we’re hearing such desparate shrieks from the extremists on every side.

Maybe I need to remember to have faith in the process of life and let it happen as I strive to make my own contribution, change my own anger, my own willingness to get caught up in the easy rage and uproar, find my center and hold steady for the great lifting of the veil.

    It’s possible ^-^

More people need to echo your sentiment. There is no right or wrong opinion, and everyone gets to have one. One of the founding father’s said something like”I may not agree with what you said but I will defend your right to say it”. Tolerence and an open mind are two things that are in very short supply of late. I think we need to stop all the rushing around we all do, smile at the person next to us in line at the grocery store, let someone out of a parking lot and into your lane of traffic.”random acts of kindness”as they are called. For crying out loud we are all breathing the same air and inhabiting the same patch of earth let’s try a bit harder to put ourselves in someone elses place and to be kind. Truley kind. Bravo Kris! I think she should stay in her house in Alaska also and scream her opinions across the Bering Strait at Russia.
